Texas senior guard Lashann Higgs, the team's leading returning scorer and the leading scorer at the time of her injury, will miss the remainder of the year with a torn ACL suffered back against Quinnipiac.
According to Rick Cantu of the Austin American-Statesman, Higgs will apply for a medical redshirt in hopes of returning next season.
True freshman Audrey Warren and Joeanna Allen-Taylor have been Higgs' replacements-by-committee. The Longhorns are already without highly touted true freshman Sedona Prince who suffered a broken leg in the off-season and Joyner Holmes, also according to Cantu, had surgery on her foot in October and is slated to return later this month.
This puts senior Sug Sutton in an even tougher situation as the lone senior in the backcourt being asked to elevate her game even more. Since Higgs' injury, Sutton's tallied double figures in all but one game.
