TCU women’s basketball head coach Raegan Pebley plans to step down, according to Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The report says that she will finish out the remainder of the season.
The Horned Frogs are currently 7-20 and 1-15 in the Big 12 and Pebley, as of now, is 140-135 over nine seasons at TCU. Pebley leaves Fort Worth after one of the most successful tenures in modern program history, notching the most Big 12 wins during the 2019-20 season with 13. Under Pebley, TCU notched three consecutive 20-win seasons from 2017 to 2020 and made the NIT semifinals twice.
Her most successful season, the 2019-20 team that finished 22-7 and 13-5 in the Big 12 had a its year cut short due to the COVID-19 season cancellation. That team would’ve very likely made the NCAA Tournament. However since that season, the program has yet to finish above .500 and have combined for just 14 wins the last two seasons.
TCU’s remaining games this season are at Texas Tech on Wednesday, March 1 and hosting Kansas on Saturday, March 4.
