UT Tyler chose a familiar candidate to become the Patriots men’s basketball coach on Tuesday. After spending the previous two years as the associate head coach of UT Tyler’s women’s program, Tim Moser has been chosen to take the helm of the men’s program.

Moser has a long history as a successful head coach of multiple men’s and women’s basketball programs and was instrumental in helping the Patriots women to the program’s first appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament, which resulted in winning the South Central Regional title and an appearance in the Elite Eight.

Before moving to Tyler, Moser was the head coach of Eastern Wyoming College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams while also serving as fitness center director after spending six years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Colorado State’s women’s basketball team.

Moser owns an impressive 511-173 overall record as a head coach, including a remarkable 150-31 record in six seasons at Division II Alaska Anchorage. Moser served as men’s and women’s head coach at Otero Junior College, where he compiled a 137-41 record in six years with the women’s program and a 172-68 record in eight years at the helm of the men’s program.

Moser was named Region IX Women’s Coach of the Year four times and Region IX Men’s Coach of the Year at Otero. At Alaska Anchorage, Moser earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year three times.
