On Saturday, Dave Campbell’s Texas Basketball went down to the San Antonio for the UIL Basketball State Championships. Over the course of six games, we saw a lot of great performances from a lot of great players. Let’s shine the spotlight on some of those outstanding showings—win or lose—from the first four games of the day.
While there were plenty of players at the smaller classifications who deserve some shine, we wanted to spotlight one of those players: Shallowater Fillies sophomore Bree Brattain.

What more can be said about the Swiftettes girls basketball reign in 1A at this point? As impressive as Nazareth’s 23 state championships appears on paper, it isn’t easy sustaining that level of success.
Texas teams went 4-1 over the weekend in the annual Big XII vs SEC Challenge with Texas 11-9, 3-4) being the lone loss against Georgia, 98-88. Texas’ loss was its fifth in six games.
Part of me wanted to include Texas' recent losses to Radford and VCU after notching a big win over North Carolina in this, but I feel like the Longhorns are the topic of conversation too much and it's best just to let the ebbs and flows go for the next few weeks, or at least until Big XII play starts.
